If you have arthritis, it is important to have some type of checklist of things to avoid, such as certain activities and foods that may cause flare-ups. - Do not use acetaminophen, aspirin or NSAIDS on a daily basis without talking with your doctor first.
- Do not ignore your pain; always listen to your body.
- Do not smoke; the toxins in smoke cause stress on connective tissue.
- Avoid gaining weight; start eating healthy!
- Avoid getting cortisone shots regularly, “cortisone inactivates vitamin D, hampers calcium absorption and inhibits growth hormone, which is important for bone repair.”
- Do not drink too much soda or coffee! Caffeine is a common culprit when it comes to aggravating your arthritis.
- Pass on that lemon with your water! Some fruits are high in acidity, which is also known to trigger arthritis pain.
