    1. What is arthritis in cats?
Arthritis in cats is the progressive deterioration of joint (articular) cartilage. One or more joints can be afflicted with the condition. Another term commonly used to describe this condition is degenerative joint disease. When the term osteoarthritis is used, it usually refers to an extension of the changes into the bone underlying the cartilage layer.
    2. Using Glucosamine to Ease Arthritis Pain in Pets
Information on how glucosamine actually works for easing arthritis pain in cats, the science backing glucosamine, and how to select the best glucosamine formula for dogs...
    3. Arthritis in Dogs and Glucosamine Sulfate
Glucosamine Sulfate and Chondroitin Sulfate supplements are fast becoming the most widely used supplements in dogs' diets. The reason is this: arthritis in dogs is one of the most common health problems seen by veterinarians. Quite unfortunately, dog owners and veterinarians rarely notice the early warning signs of arthritis in dogs because these animals have the character to ignore soreness and discomfort until the arthritic changes in the joints have progressed significantly. Recent widespread availability of nutraceuticals such as GLUCOSAMINE and CHONDROITIN SULFATE have proven to be significant contributors to easing the discomfort of arthritis in dogs. Plus these substances actually promote healing and tissue repair.

Skittish Pets and Arthritis

By J. R. Rogers

Both cats and dogs can become very "skittish." Basically, they can react in a very negative or jumpy way for a variety of reasons. It can be a reaction to the tone of voice you use or an external noise that causes a reaction. For pets suffering from arthritis, it can be an added burden to have reactions like this.

Get the Jump on the Problem

We have discussed factors that enhance the lives of pets suffering from arthritis: firstly, a high-quality liquid Glucosamine to assist with pain relief and rehabilitate damaged cartilage. The second factor would be a good diet and as part of that therapy some exercise that they find tolerable.

But, we cannot ignore the comfort factor either. As any human knows, if we are in pain we greatly enhance that pain when we are feeling stress. I don't believe any of you would disagree with that. The same follows for pets that are having pain issues.

It is a Matter of Degrees

I have yet to meet a pet who did not respond well to using our product to ease their pain. In many instances, what owners report is that their pets are "like new again." That does not mean that your pet is not aware that they have a problem. I think it is fair to say that they are very smart about their own bodies and if there is a problem, they know about it.

Distracting Them

When you do see signs that your pet is feeling anxious or stressed, try giving them something pleasurable. Whether it is a certain music they like or simply being talked to and petted, do it. In nearly every case whatever the stressor was, (as veterinarians and doctors call it) it seems to fade away pretty fast. Of course, if you are in the middle of a hurricane or a major thunderstorm, your pet might disagree.

Pets and Humans are on the Same Page

Have you had similar situations yourself? Sure you have. The same kind of an approach works for you as it does for your pet. Relieve the stress and you ease back the chances of enhancing pain.

Most of our readers share stories about this with us. We are happy they do. If we can offer you some advice that is useful and has a positive impact on a pet that suffers from arthritis, we like to share it with you as well.

Do you take the time to watch for this?

Many pet owners are busy people. Although they may love their pets, it has been my experience that they do not always stay vigilant about these things. It is not that you do not care. It is just a question of how much time you may have to deal with your pets.

Remember, we can almost always deal with pain management issues for pets but there are factors that can cause pain to come back. That happens under circumstances like this for some pets. My feeling is that a few minutes of calming are worth a great deal at times like this. I know your pet will be grateful for these little extras.

See you next time.
